CONTACT: -- For Immediate Release HDNet TV To Broadcast Young Chevrolet Extreme Monster Truck Nationals From Texas Motor Speedway Dirt TrackFORT WORTH-DALLAS (October 11, 2001) - The world's most popular monster trucks will find themselves broadcast via satellite on the world's only all-high definition national television network. Cameras will be rolling Sunday, October 14 at the Young Chevrolet Extreme Monster Truck Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. The broadcast date of the event is yet to be announced. HDNet, with offices and facilities in Dallas, broadcasts a schedule of sports and entertainment programming on DIRECTV Channel 199. HDNet, which was launched September 5 of this year, was co-founded by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Chairman and President, and Philip Garvin, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer. The network also broadcasts Major League Baseball and National Hockey League games and will work with the U.S. Olympic Committee to produce and broadcast events held by the 39 national Governing Bodies for Olympic Sport. "We are making history with HDNet on the Young Chevrolet Extreme Monster Truck Nationals," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "This is one of those 'in your face' type of events so it's appropriate that it be broadcast in high definition television. DIRECTV has more than ten million customers so this event will be viewed by a much larger audience than just those attending this weekend." "Watching a sporting event on HDNet is a unique, compelling experience that closely rivals the excitement of actually being there in person," said Cuban. "The rapidly growing base of current HDTV users is demanding more high definition programming, and we are committed to providing them the compelling content they seek." The Young Chevrolet Extreme Monster Truck Nationals will be held on Saturday night, October 13 and Sunday afternoon, October 14. Included in the nine-truck field will be Bigfoot, Monster Patrol, Carolina Crusher and Dragon Slayer. The event will feature side-by-side, head-to-head competition over an obstacle course constructed in the infield of the Dirt Track. The course will include jumps that will launch the monster trucks high in the air along with a trip across automobiles that will reduce them to crushed rubble. The event also includes a freestyle competition in which the trucks will perform for "style points" doing jumps, wheelies and other aerobatics. The weekend monster truck competition will kick off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Sunday's program will begin at 2:30 p.m. with the gates opening at 1:00 p.m. Tickets for the Extreme Monster Truck Nationals, as low as $10 for children, are on sale daily at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com and at Ticketmaster locations. # # #
