O'Brien as News Director and Executive Producer for "HDNet World Report", the network's signature, weekly news program. O'Brien will lead development and production for the program. O'Brien is a two-time Emmy Award winner for his work in television news. He was also part of a team that won a duPont-Columbia Broadcast News Award and a prestigious Peabody Award. He comes to HDNet after a thirteen-year career at ABC News where he most recently acted as Senior Producer for Special Events for "Good Morning America". "He brings with him a wide range of news production experience, especially news production in HD - which will certainly enhance the tradition of excellence that we've established for 'HDNet World Report'." O'Brien produced stories for "Good Morning America" from such diverse locations as Istanbul, Kuwait, Paris, Rome, Los Angeles and New Orleans including the first ever live broadcasts from inside the Vatican, from aboard a US nuclear attack submarine while at sea and the first live broadcast from inside CIA headquarters. He began his career at ABC working as a producer for "This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts" before moving to "PrimeTime Live" and "20/20" where he produced and wrote political, feature, and breaking news segments and hour long documentaries. He then moved to "Good Morning America" in 2002 where he managed the program's transition to high-definition. O'Brien is a graduate of Vassar College.
