Dan Rather Reports To Provide Live Coverage of "Super Tuesday" on HDNet

"Dan Rather Reports On Politics" travels to California to provide a live, five-hour broadcast covering the "Super Tuesday" primaries Tuesday, February 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET

Dallas (February 4, 2008) - This Tuesday, "Dan Rather Reports on Politics" heads to Los Angeles for a live, five-hour broadcast analyzing the results of the "Super Tuesday" primaries on February 5. The broadcast continues in Rather's celebrated tradition of providing the most comprehensive Election Night coverage.

A total of twenty-four states from coast to coast are set to hold either caucuses or primaries on February 5.

"Dan Rather Reports On Politics: Super Tuesday" will take place in front of a live audience of students and faculty in the East Lobby of the USC Annenberg School for Communication.

As part of the program, USC Annenberg journalism professor Judy Muller will host a focus group discussion among USC students, providing commentary from a demographic expected to have an impact in this year's presidential race. Some of the panelists joining the broadcast are Drew Westen author of "The Psychology of the Voter"; Rob Long, a longtime television writer, producer, and contributor to "The National Review"; Stephen Marks, Former Republican Opposition Researcher; Rev. Samuel Rodriguez who is President and Founder of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference; Bonnie Garcia of the California State Assembly, and others on both sides of the debate on the essential issues of this election year, from health care to the economy to immigration.

Rather will be joined on the broadcast by veteran campaign strategists, Republican Mike Murphy and Democrat Donald Fowler - both providing additional analysis and commentary on the primary results as they come in.

Mike Murphy is one of the Republican Party's most successful political media consultants. He has handled strategy and advertising for more than 26 successful senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns including those of Jeb Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also worked for two of the Republican presidential hopefuls as senior media strategist - in 2000 on Senator John McCain's presidential campaign and in 2002 for Mitt Romney's gubernatorial run.

Donald Fowler has achieved leading roles in both national Democratic politics and the high tech industry. He has been on a twenty-year campaign journey across the country and back again, serving as a senior policy advisor in Silicon Valley and working on five presidential campaigns including those of Bill Clinton, Al Gore and John Kerry. He was also a presidential appointee to the Federal Communications Commission under President Clinton where he dealt with cable and satellite television and broadband Internet issues. He currently runs a Silicon Valley mobile technology firm (Cherry Tree Mobile Media) and a political consulting group in California.

This coverage of Super Tuesday is the fifth installment in a series of special reports from the campaign trail. "Dan Rather Reports on Politics" traveled the country, going from New Hampshire, to South Carolina, from Utah to Florida to bring viewers five consecutive weeks of political campaign news and information.

"Dan Rather Reports on Politics: Super Tuesday" will premiere live on HDNet on Tuesday, February 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
